Hezekiah Walker

Hezekiah Walker (born December 24, 1962 in Brooklyn ( New York )) is an American gospel singer , singer-songwriter and since 1994 pastor of the Brooklyn Megachurch : Love Fellowship Tabernacle . Walker usually appears under the name Hezekiah Walker & The Love Fellowship Crusade Choir . He has released several albums on “Benson Records” and “Verity Records”, a label specializing in gospel music.

biography

Hezekiah Walker was born in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, New York. He attended Long Island University with a major in sociology. He also attended the Hugee Theological Seminar and the New York School of the Bible.

In 2001, "Hezekiah Walker & The Love Fellowship Crusade Choir" were nominated for a NAACP Image and Soul Train Award for Best Best Gospel Artist, Traditional, based on the success of the album "Love Is Love!" The group has won two Grammy Awards in the Best Gospel Album By Choir Or Chorus Album category: once for “Live in Atlanta at Morehouse College” (1994) and once for “Love Is Live!” (2001).

Independently of The Love Fellowship Crusade Choir , Walker's Love Fellowship Tabernacle Church Choir released an album Recorded Live At Love Fellowship Tabernacle in 1998 . This LFT church choir was younger and more hip-hop oriented than the previous church choirs and its album hit the top 5 on Billboard's Gospel Charts and was nominated for a Grammy Award that same year.
