Boyz II Men is an American R & B - singing group . The group was founded in Philadelphia in 1988 as a black boy band quintet under the name Unique Attraction . In 1989 the group became a quartet and renamed Boyz II Men .

successes

Originally conceived as a black counterpart to the many (white) boy groups , Boyz II Men are now one of the most successful R'n'B groups with a total of over 45 million records sold. Three of her singles became longest-running record holders as the number one The Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart for the United States by Billboard Magazine .

End of the Road was number 1 for 13 weeks in 1992, beating the then record holder Don't Be Cruel / Hound Dog by Elvis Presley by two weeks. I'll Make Love to You topped the charts for 14 weeks in 1994, catching the interim record of I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston . One Sweet Day , a duet with Mariah Carey , was number 1 for 16 weeks in 1995; this record still applies today. With over 60 million records sold, they are one of the most successful boy bands alongside the Backstreet Boys , New Kids on the Block and Jackson 5 . The group had guest appearances on the series The Prince of Bel-Air and How I Met Your Mother .
