If I Never See Your Face Again is a song by the American band Maroon 5 , written by band member Adam Levine and James Valentine for the second album It Won't Be Soon Before Long . A version of the song was recorded with singer Rihanna and released as the fourth single on her album Good Girl Gone Bad . The song was produced by Mike Elizondo, Mark “Spike” Stent and Maroon 5.

When the original version of If I Never See Your Face Again was finished, Maroon 5 finally wanted Rihanna to sing the song because, according to Levine, they wanted to try something different, new and crazy.

Rihanna said she was "honored" to sing for Maroon 5, one of her favorite bands. This song is the only collaboration on the re-release of Good Girl Gone Bad .

Maroon 5 and Rihanna first sang the song on an MTV show and received a lot of praise from the audience.

If I Never See Your Face Again was first played on US radio on May 13, 2008.

The song received a 2009 Grammy Awards nomination for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.

The music video where Anthony Mandler directed, was in and out of Castaic in California turned on April 23 of 2008. An MTV News called the music video "glamorous" and Levine saw the video as "very stylish and beautiful" and said that " Rihanna's presence is incredible". The Guardian wrote, "The concept seems to be high erotic ". The music video premiered on May 13, 2008 on Total Request Live .

The Billboard magazine finds the "common singing of Levine and Rihanna sexy on the take and their energy is elegant."

If I Never See Your Face Again debuted at number 28 in Australia on May 26, 2008. The song debuted at number 57 on the American Billboard Hot 100 , which remained the highest position. The song debuted in the UK on June 8th at number 29 and became Rihanna's first single to miss the UK UK Top 20. The next came with Hard .
