content
Hate That I Love You is a duet between Rihanna and the American singer Ne-Yo, who also wrote the theme song for Good Girl Gone Bad . In an interview, Rihanna said, “The song Hate That I Love You will sound like a sexy song to you when you first listen to it, but you must also listen to the lyrics. It is really a dark song with dark content. This song is about two people who love and hate each other at the same time or the feelings they have for each other, but still cannot get away from each other ('But you wont let me-You upset me girl'). They are prisoners of their feelings and they need each other (That's how much I love you -How much I need you) "
reception
MSN called Hate That I Love You a "poppy track" for being "nowhere near as poppy" and compared it to Rihanna's hit Umbrella , "but it's a classic R&B song with a very strong melody." The song didn't impress Stylus Magazine , they referred to the title as a mix of Ne-Yo's and Stargate's previous works: "Here you can hear the rhythm of 'Sexy Love', the ' Irreplaceable ' influence and the melody of 'So Sick' ... it's a fresh mix of it old songs. ”The magazine only gave the song two stars out of ten. Digital Spy called the song a "dreamy R&B ballad ."
