In March 2012, Rihanna said in an interview that she has not yet started recording her next album, but has already started “working on new sounds”. On September 7, 2012, following Rihanna's performance at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards , it was announced that she was working on her fourth global tour, entitled Diamonds World Tour , to promote her future album. Live Nation released a video on YouTube announcing the first North American tour dates. The tickets for the first shows could be purchased a week later on September 14, 2012. On October 11, 2012, Rihanna announced via Twitter both the name and the official cover of her seventh studio album Unapologetic , which was released worldwide on November 19, 2012. Five days before the release date, on November 14, 2012, while Rihanna started her 777 tour , during which Rihanna gave seven concerts in seven different countries within seven days, Live Nation announced the first European dates. At first 21 concerts in 13 different countries were known, which began in Bilbao ( Spain ) on May 26, 2013. In the course of time a total of 11 additional concerts and one concert each in two other countries became known. In addition, a total of six concerts were announced as part of various music festivals . Among other things, Rihanna gave a concert in Morocco , Africa as part of the Mawazine Festival . The other five festival appearances took place in Europe at the Roskilde Festival in Denmark , the Open'er Festival in Poland , the Monte-Carlo Sporting Summer Festival in Monaco and the T in the Park Festival in Scotland . But the next two dates in Boston (United States) on March 10, 2013 and in Baltimore (United States) on March 12, 2013 had to be canceled. because Rihanna had a laryngitis . The tour could then be continued as planned. In addition, the canceled concerts in Baltimore were postponed to April 24, 2013 and in Boston to May 6, 2013. On April 15 and 16, 2013 two concerts, this time in Houston (United States) and Dallas (United States), had to be canceled due to illness. Rihanna announced on Instagram that she had been sick since the concert in San Diego (United States) and hoped that the two days off between the Las Vegas (United States) and Houston concerts would be enough for recovery.
