We Found Love is a song composed Barbados originating Contemporary R & B - singer Rihanna and the British DJ and music producer Calvin Harris . The song is the first single from Rihanna's sixth studio album Talk That Talk . It was first broadcast on US and UK radios on September 22, 2011 . On the same day, the song was also released via iTunes in Australia , France , Italy and the United States.

In the summer of 2011 it was announced that Rihanna will release her sixth album in the fall of 2011. After that there was a lot of speculation about possible songs on the album. In September it was announced that British music producer Calvin Harris had produced one of the songs. The title of the song was announced a little later and announced as the first single of the sixth album. On September 21, the Rihanna Unlocked campaign started on Rihanna's official Facebook page, where you could unlock different levels. These steps revealed, among other things, the first lines of text and the new "R" logo.

The song debuted on the US Billboard Hot 100 on September 29, 2011 at number 16. Rihanna's second-highest chart entry in the US after her single with rapper Eminem Love the Way You Lie . It makes her the performer who achieved 20 top 10 hits fastest. In Germany , the song went straight to number one in the German single charts on October 28, 2011. So after Umbrella , Don't Stop the Music , Love the Way You Lie and Diamonds it is their fifth number one hit in Germany . In the German airplay charts , the single also reached the top position for three weeks . On November 3rd, "We Found Love" reached # 1 in the US, making it Rihanna's 11th number one hit in the States. When the first single Diamonds from their seventh album Unapologetic reached number 1 on December 1, 2012 , it became their 13th number one hit in the United States. This puts her in second place among female artists with the most number one hits. Only Mariah Carey has more with 18 number one hits.

Music video

The music video for "We Found Love" shows Rihanna breaking out of a drug relationship. British boxer Dudley O'Shaughnessy plays her partner. At the beginning there are numerous kissing scenes and both have fun in a skate park and a fast food restaurant. In the course of the song, however, the mood changes; the couple consume drugs extensively and lead an utterly dissolute life, on which love breaks. Rihanna then leaves her partner.

Part of the video was shot on September 26, 2011 in Bangor , Northern Ireland . The video was shot in a field in County Down , Northern Ireland , before Rihanna started the European leg of her Loud Tour . During filming, the BBC was informed that the area around the filming set would be overcrowded as many local residents came to the location to get a look at the singer. On the same day, pictures of Rihanna were leaked on the Internet, showing Rihanna wearing a red bandana top, a long flannel shirt and boyfriend jeans. In other scenes, she wears a bikini in the pattern of the US flag, a denim vest, and ripped jeans. Rap-Up reported that the video is reminiscent of the first single from the previous album, Loud , " Only Girl (In the World), " which was also shot on a similar set.

The video was particularly criticized by anti-rape and church organizations. Rape Crisis Center's Eileen Kelly described the video as "a shame " and found " it sends the message that she [Rihanna] is a desirable object possessed by a disturbing man ".

At the Grammy Awards in 2013 was We Found Love in the category Best Music Video Award.
