I Created Disco ( German: "I created Disco " ) is the debut album by the Scottish musician Calvin Harris . It was released on June 18, 2007 in his home country Great Britain, and in Germany just under a year later on April 21, 2008.
I Created Disco was awarded gold in the UK for sales of 100,000 copies.
background
Calvin Harris started writing the first songs when he moved back to his hometown Dumfried, Scotland, after living in London for two years. All recordings and production took place on an Amiga computer in Harris' own studio, the "CalvinHarrisBeats Studio".
Stylistically, the album is strongly influenced by the use of synthesizers, as well as Harris' sometimes high, sometimes deep vocals.
promotion
In the run-up to the release, two singles were released. One is Acceptable in the 80's , a tribute to the style and culture of the eighties, and the other is The Girls , a song about a man who thinks he's irresistible. In Germany, Harris was best known for the fact that his song Acceptable in the 80's was played in the advertising for the casting show Germany's Next Top Model . It reached number 30 in the German single charts.

reception
Cathrin Hauswald from Laut.de was enthusiastic:
“Calvin Harris turns out to be a soulful, gaudy lollipop. Colorful, that the sound walls wobble, poppy sweet and above all: You can lick it forever. That means listening forever. "
Daniel Leckert from CDStarts.de also praised the work:
“Many songs [...] heat up the mood and are highly danceable. So you quickly find pleasure in the Gameboy sounds and urgent beats, which are also served with more sophisticated food from the synth fundus. "
