Last Girl on Earth Tour
(2010-2011)

The Good Girl Gone Bad Tour was the second world tour of the Barbadian singer Rihanna . The tour supported her third studio album, Good Girl Gone Bad . The songs were mostly from Good Girl Gone Bad , some songs from her first two albums. Akon opened up for concerts in Canada, while Ciara and David Jordan opened up in the UK. Chris Brown was the opening act for the tour in Oceania. Sistanova was the opening act for the concerts in Germany .

During the show, Rihanna mostly wore leather costumes. Many changes were made to the setlist during the tour. The original setlist features a cover version of Bob Marley's Is This Love . During the European tour in 2008 the setlist was shortened to fifteen songs. In the setlist of the tour in Oceania and Asia, the respective show ended with an encore. The tour received mixed reviews, the main topic of the reviews being the outfits on stage. A DVD of the Manchester show entitled Good Girl Gone Bad Live was released on June 17, 2008.

background

Microphone of the tour with the words Bad Gal (German bad girl ).

The tour was Rihanna's first worldwide tour in which she was the main act. She presented a completely new image of Rihanna who wore very provocative leather costumes during every show. The stage was elaborately designed. It consisted of a large number of stairs, two large flat screens showing pictures of Rihanna and specially made clips, and six slim flat screens that were evenly spaced, three on the left and three on the right. The stage also consisted of thousands of lights that glowed in different colors. There was also a large LC screen in the center of the stage that mostly showed Rihanna. The stage was packed with pyrotechnics and other on-stage props that Rihanna and the dancers used during their performance. Her background singers and the band were spread out on both sides of the stage. During the Australian leg of the tour, the stage also had a small liftable platform in the front center of the stage. For "Disturbia" she started singing on top of that platform and climbed on top of it again for "Unfaithful".

Akon was selected as the opening act for the tour in Canada during the North American leg. The rest of the shows during the stage had no opening act. Ciara opened the shows on all UK dates in December and David Jordan opened them on all UK dates in March. Adam Tensta opened the rest of the European concerts in March 2008. Chris Brown performed a full setlist in front of Rihanna during the Australian , New Zealand and Philippines legs of the tour. In Mexico City , the Mexican pop star María José opened the show with a four-song medley from her first three singles and her current single "Una Soja Señora". Due to medical instructions, the concerts in Nottingham, Birmingham and Bournemouth were canceled at very short notice in December 2007. The Birmingham and Nottingham concerts were eventually postponed. During the Sydney Concert on November 7th, 2008, Rihanna walked backstage with Chris Brown during the performance of "Umbrella". TMZ.com reported that Rihanna was experiencing breathing and conditioning issues from the air in the arena. The concerts in Asia on February 12th and 13th were canceled due to Chris Brown's attack on Rihanna.

criticism

Mike Usinger of The Georgia Straight gave a mixed review of the Vancouver concert at GM Place . He said, "The Barbados knockout has a lot to learn about how to keep an audience going." However, Usinger also commented, "The friendliest thing to say about Rihanna is that she has shown some improvements since her last visit . " Canadian Online Explorer's Jason Macneil made a positive contribution to the concert during the show at Molson Amphitheater, saying," The singer made an impressive impression. The opening with Pon de Replay, dressed in a sexy Dominatrix-style black leather ensemble, was an eye-catcher. ”For the planned show on February 13 in Malaysia , the conservative Islamic country demanded that Rihanna's concert should be banned because of her tight outfits. The tour received mostly positive reviews for Rihanna's live performance, concept and outfits.

Broadcasts and recordings

On September 24, 2007, the show was recorded at the Bell Center in Montreal , Canada and was available to viewers online on MSN Music . The broadcast was used a lot and broke records; it was viewed online over a million times in the first week. Rihanna's concert was the most-viewed concert by a single artist on MSN Music in 2007. Rihanna's concert in Ischgl , Austria, on December 1, 2007 was recorded and broadcast on Austrian television. The concert was free for the audience on site. The show at the Manchester Evening News Arena in Manchester , England, on December 6, 2007, was also recorded and later released on June 17, 2008 as Rihanna's first live DVD entitled Good Girl Gone Bad Live . The DVD also includes a documentary of Rihanna and her band during the journey and life on tour. The concert first aired on Channel 4 on public television on Christmas Day 2008 . On November 16, 2008, the concert at Fort Bonifacio in Manila , Philippines , reached an audience of more than 70,000 people. The concert was sponsored by MTV Philippines and Globe Telecom .
