The Loud Tour was the fourth tour by the singer Rihanna , which served to present her fifth album Loud . According to the announcement on December 7, 2010, it comprised 99 concerts, starting on June 4, 2011 in Baltimore , United States , and ending in London on December 22, 2011. Due to the demand in Great Britain , the tour was extended several times.
background
The singer said in an interview with the American Billboard magazine : “I'm happy to go out on the street and introduce my music.” On the red carpet of the Grammy Awards in February 2011, she said: “We want the tour in June 1st Week 2011 start in the United States . It's the Loud era, I'm really excited, there will be new colors, a new stage and a completely new show ... "After her appearance on American Idol in April 2011, she spoke about the design of the stage:" We just designed the stage and we have planned an area where the fans will be involved in the show and the stage and will be closer than ever to me and the whole crew. You're a real VIP. "
Renault UK is an official sponsor of the tour. In addition, Nivea , a sponsor of its North America and Europe his tour.
At the end of June it was announced that Cee-Lo Green was leaving the tour due to clashes with the talent show The Voice , in which Cee Lo Green was involved, and his other new projects, which also included recording a new album and writing a book.
On 11 July 2011 Rihanna stepped in Birmingham ( Alabama on). The proceeds from this concert were intended solely for the victims of the April 2011 tornado disaster in Alabama. It was raised around $ 175,000.
course
The concept of the show stage is a huge loudspeaker box that reflects the name of the tour. The show begins with various video feeds that are shown by four movable, circular screens and announce Rihanna's arrival. She wore a blue mini trench coat and pink stilleto boots with neon green heels and sang " Only Girl (In the World) ", the first single from Loud. After finishing the song, she showed up in a Day Glo bikini and followed with the songs " Disturbia " and " Shut Up and Drive " from her 2007 album Good Girl Gone Bad . She continued the concert with " Man Down ".
In an S&M-inspired set, Rihanna first sang a cover version of Prince 's "Darling Nikki," in which she wore a tuxedo and pretended to hit the three almost naked dancers around Rihanna with a stick. Then it went over to " S&M ". She took off her tuxedo and only wore a white bondage corset and handcuffs around her wrists. Then she sang “Skin”, another song by Loud , where she gave a female fan a lap dance , which caused a lot of discussion in the media. Rihanna was inspired by Nicki Minaj , who also dances to selected people at concerts. Rihanna later promised that she would give lap dances at every concert in North America. After a video clip and the appearance of " Raining Men ", the stage design changed to a military theme, which started with " Hard " from 2009. Among other things, a pink tank appeared, which was already used on the Last Girl on Earth Tour. This was followed by the songs " Breakin 'Dishes " and " The Glamorous Life ", a cover version by Sheila E. At the end of the theme, Rihanna sang a medley from " Run This Town " and " Live Your Life ".
After the subject and another video clip, Rihanna came back on a platform wearing a yellow dress and sang her ballads " Unfaithful ", " Hate That I Love You " and " California King Bed ". She continued with a West Indian inspired performance of her hits “ What's My Name? "And" Rude Boy ". She then sang the party anthems “ Cheers (Drink to That) ” and “ Don't Stop the Music ” and ended the subject with the R&B ballad “ Take a Bow ”.
She ended the concert with an encore of " Love the Way You Lie (Part II) " and " Umbrella ".
Incidents
While performing in Vancouver on June 25th , Rihanna fell while performing “ What's My Name? " on stage. Rihanna didn't hurt herself, got up straight away and went on singing. However, after the fall there were rumors like "Rihanna does not sing live" or "Rihanna move her mouth to playback recording". These rumors arose because during the fall the song continued to sing with her voice, even though Rihanna was not near her mouth at the time. But you can clearly see that the vocals became quieter when they fell, and that the vocals came from their background singers.
On July 8th, at a concert in Dallas , Texas , a spotlight caught fire on the ceiling of the hall. One viewer described the incident: “The fire broke out after Rihanna sang ' California King Bed '. I think it had something to do with the lighting or the fireworks that started at the end of the show. In any case, you saw large flames and individual sparks falling from the ceiling onto the stage. ”Due to this incident and the safety of the audience, the concert was canceled. Rihanna later apologized to fans via Twitter , saying that nothing worse had happened and that she and her team will now look into this matter so that this incident does not happen again.
In Sweden , Rihanna cut two out of three shows. The canceled shows should take place in Malmö and Stockholm . In Malmö the show was canceled 40 minutes before it was supposed to start. In Stockholm, the show was canceled 40 minutes after it was supposed to start. Rihanna's management and arranger said that Rihanna canceled the shows for health reasons.
criticism
Critics praised the tour and sometimes described it as "Rihanna's best tour so far". Toronto Sun's Jane Stevenson said, "It's a two hour concert from Rihanna's best yet." Montreal Gazette's Bernard Perusse said the tour was a visual spectacle. Jon Brean of the Minneapolis Star Tribune said, "Barbadian beauty is more visual, more successful, more sexual and stronger than she has ever been before." Vancouver Sun's Amanda Ash said, "Rihanna knows how to throw a sexy party."
Nation News Barbados commented on the Barbados concert: “The name of Rihanna's world tour adequately describes the experience at the biggest show in Barbados to date. It was a long time coming, but Rihanna's first big show in Barbados was worth the wait. Fans had to wait over an hour last night to see the star. But the time when Rihanna took the stage and sang "Only Girl (In the World)", about moving seven times to Umbrella at the end, was poignant. From her endless hits like "S&M", "Man Down", "Hard", "Pon de Replay" and "Unfaithful"; the spectacular stage and her solo play on the drums, the girl who grew up near Westbury Road was awesome. Based on the rumors about her stage behavior outside of Barbados, it seemed like she had toned down her acting for her home audience. Nevertheless, the dynamic was on point. "
