Shut Up and Drive is the second and fourth single of the R & B - singer Rihanna from her third album, Good Girl Gone Bad . The song was written by Carl Sturken, Evan Rogers, Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook, Stephen Paul David Morris, and Gilian Gilbert and produced by Carl Sturken and Evan Rogers. The song was released on June 12 as the second single from the album in the United States . The song samples the melody of New Orders Blue Monday with a rocking sound. The song became Rihanna's seventh number one hit on the American dance charts.

Shut Up and Drive won the People's Choice Awards in the Most Popular R&B Song category.

Music video

The music video was directed by Anthony Mandler , the choreography by Tina Landon. At the beginning of the video, Rihanna drives a Ferrari F430 into a garage or workshop.

The music video was shot in the Czech capital, Prague .

Shut Up and Drive debuted at number 88 on the American Billboard Hot 100 and reached number 15 after a few weeks when their hit Umbrella was at number 1, but Shut Up and Drive could not build on the success of Umbrella . The song became Rihanna's seventh number one hit on the Hot Dance Club Play chart (December 8, 2007). She holds the record for the second most number-one placements in a row, Madonna and Janet Jackson are still ahead of her. To date, over 3.26 million copies of the song have been sold in the United States and the RIAA has awarded it platinum .

In Europe , the song was even more successful and reached the top ten in Germany and the United Kingdom ; there it became Rihanna's fifth consecutive top ten hit. To date, the song has sold over 235,000 copies in the UK.
