The Barbadian singer Rihanna acts as a duet partner in this song . The track was produced by Just Blaze and Canei Finch and had its official premiere at the MTV Video Music Awards 2008 when TI performed the song live. Live Your Life samples O-Zone's number one hit Dragostea din tei .

Live Your Life debuted at number 80 on the American Billboard Hot 100 in the week ending October 10, 2008 . The following week, the song jumped from number 80 to number one on the Billboard Hot-100, with both performers setting the record for the biggest jump to number one in American chart history. The following week Britney Spears broke the record when her song Womanizer jumped from 96 to number one. Live Your Life became the direct successor to Whatever You Like at number one , making TI the ninth artist ever to put his own title at number one. In total, the song was at the top of the US chart for six weeks.
In Canada , Live Your Life came in fourth. In Ireland it debuted in third place, where it became TI's most successful single to date and Rihanna's tenth top ten hit. In New Zealand , Live Your Life became a number one hit and went platinum.
