Chamillionaire [ kəˈmɪljənɛɹ ] (born November 28, 1979 in Houston , Texas ; actually Hakeem Seriki ) is an American rapper . He is also known by the pseudonyms The Mixtape Messiah , King Koopa , Chamillitary Man , Color Changin 'Lizard , Chamillinator and The Truth from Texas .
Life
He grew up in Houston's Fifth Ward as the child of a Nigerian Muslim and a Christian of African American descent.
Chamillionaire lived in a strict household where he was not allowed to swear. Chamillionaire was only 15 years old at the beginning of his career and formed a team with Paul Wall ; both were under contract with Swishahouse . Within a short period of time, the two artists brought out numerous mixtapes . The joint collab album "Get Ya Mind Correct" sold 150,000 copies independently and brought them national success. After disagreements, Chamillionaire separated from Swishahouse - Paul Wall stayed there - and founded his own label Chamillitary Entertainment.
Chamillionaire's debut album The Sound of Revenge was released in Germany on November 8, 2005. He became known in the summer of 2005 with the song Turn It Up . On January 7, 2006, the album was The Sound of Revenge (Screwed and Chopped) in the United States published mixed by DJ Chamillionaires OG Ron C .
On September 8, 2006, the single Ridin ' , which was awarded a Grammy in 2007 , was released in Germany. The accompanying video won the MTV Video Music Awards 2006 in the "Best Rap Video" category. A parody of this song, entitled White & Nerdy , was sung by Weird Al Yankovic . Chamillionaire also rapped the "GrindTime" for the soundtrack of the game NBA Live 06 .
Shortly before Christmas 2006, The Mixtape Messiah Pt was released. 2 . Chamillionaire made this available free of charge on the Internet.
In 2007 his second album Ultimate Victory was released , which fell short of expectations with 215,000 units sold.
In addition to music, the rapper also earns money from a car dealership. This is called Fly Rydes and is based in Houston.
Chamillitary entertainment
Chamillionaire founded the Chamillitary Entertainment label in 2004 . This is part of Universal . He released his first two major albums through the label. Chamillionaire signed his brothers Rasaq and Yung Ro, as well as Tony Henry and Famous, who can be heard on the mixtape Messiah 2 and 3 as well as Ultimate Victory .
