Paul Wall (born March 11, 1981 in Houston , Texas ; actually Paul Slayton ) is an American rapper .

biography

Originally he studied mass communication and was active as a DJ . He got into rapping after he was encouraged to do so by his producer Michael "5000" Watts, for whom he was a DJ at the time.

Paul Wall is one of the most successful representatives of the Dirty South and one of the few white representatives of this genre. He first appeared with other rappers from Houston , as Mike Jones and Slim Thug in appearance. He recorded his first album with his former competitor Chamillionaire . At first, the two opponents were on various battles, but then decided to work together, which resulted in the two albums Get ya Mind Correct and Controversy Sells , which both established themselves as underground stars. When Chamillionaire left the joint label Swishahouse , the two separated artistically, but they are now working together again.

His second solo album The People's Champ was extremely successful and reached number 1 and platinum status in the USA. With the single Sittin 'Sidewayz he was also represented in the US pop charts, while Girl made it into the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 . He was also featured on Nelly's number 1 hit, Grillz . In summer 2009 his fourth studio album, Fast Life , was released.

Paul Wall is best known for his grills , dental insoles made of precious metal that he cultivated, designed and sold on his website grillsbypaulwall.com .
