Slick Rick
Richard Walters (* 14. January 1965 in London ), better by his stage name Slick Rick , MC Ricky D and The Ruler is known, a British-American East Coast - Rapper and is considered one of the most important old-school - MCs .
biography
Slick Rick was born in England and moved to New York with his parents when he was 10 years old . As a baby, he lost his right eye from broken glass and has been wearing an eye patch ever since. Slick Rick took part in rap contests and at the age of 20 he had his first successes. One of the most sampled songs is the song La Di Da Di (1985) ("There is no competition 'cause we are the best"), which he recorded with Doug E. Fresh .
Commercially successful was Slick Rick's album The Great Adventures of Slick Rick (1988), which the US hip-hop - Charts led and platinum was excellent. Some of his songs were from hip-hop artists such as Snoop Doggy Dogg , Mos Def or Tricky gecovert .
Problems with the judiciary
Two lengthy jail stays - Slick Rick was convicted of shooting two men trying to rob him - led to an erratic career. He recorded the album Behind Bars entirely in prison; it was from Warren G produced.
