Trae tha Truth (born July 3, 1980 in Houston , Texas ; real life Frasier Thompson III ) is an American rapper . He was born in a troubled neighborhood in Houston city. He discovered his talent as a rapper early on. He often raps about his brother who has been imprisoned for life.
On June 20, 2012, Trae survived an assassination attempt in Texas that killed three people and injured one other person besides himself. Trae himself came to the hospital with a gunshot wound, but was soon able to leave.

Trae's trademark is his deep, guttural voice .

According to media reports, Trae was a good friend of the African-American George Floyd , who died of police violence on May 25, 2020 , whose death sparked protests and riots across the country.
