Sunrise is a city in Broward County in the US state of Florida with 84,439 inhabitants (as of 2010). The urban area has a size of 47.4 km².

geography

Sunrise is approximately 11 miles west of Fort Lauderdale and 22 miles north of Miami . Clockwise, Sunrise is bordered by Tamarac , Lauderhill , Plantation , Davie, and Weston . To the west, the city borders the Everglades .

climate

The climate is mild and warm, light with a light wind from the sea. Statistically, it rains an average of 50% of the days in the summer months. history

The town was formerly known as Sunrise Golf Village. In 1971, by referendum, the city changed its name to Sunrise.

Roads running through the city are Interstate 75 and Florida State Roads 84 , 816 , 817 , 838, and 869 ( Sawgrass Expressway , toll road). On the southwest edge of the city branches off the SR 869 towards Deerfield Beach and the I-595 towards Fort Lauderdale from the I-75 at a traffic junction . International travel can be made via Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport , Miami International Airport or Palm Beach International Airport . Domestic flights can also land at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport , Downtown Fort Lauderdale Airport, or North Perry Airport .
