Sunrise is a city in Broward County in the US state of Florida with 84,439 inhabitants (as of 2010). The urban area has a size of 47.4 km².

geography

Sunrise is approximately 11 miles west of Fort Lauderdale and 22 miles north of Miami . Clockwise, Sunrise is bordered by Tamarac , Lauderhill , Plantation , Davie, and Weston . To the west, the city borders the Everglades .

climate

The climate is mild and warm, light with a light wind from the sea. Statistically, it rains an average of 50% of the days in the summer months. history

The town was formerly known as Sunrise Golf Village. In 1971, by referendum, the city changed its name to Sunrise.
