Hollywood is a city in Broward County in the US state of Florida with 140,768 inhabitants (as of 2010). The urban area has a size of 79.8 km². The population density is 1825 inhabitants per km².
geography
Hollywood is about 15 km north of Miami . Adjacent communities are Dania Beach , Fort Lauderdale , Hallandale Beach , Pembroke Park , West Park , Miramar , Pembroke Pines , Cooper City, and Davie .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the 140,768 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 71,070 households. The population density was 1988.2 inh. / Km². 72.7% of the population identified themselves as whites , 16.7% as African-Americans , 0.4% as Indians and 2.4% as Asian Americans . 4.6% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 3.2% to several ethnic groups. 32.6% of the population was Hispanic or Latino .
In 2010 children under the age of 18 and 27.3% of all households lived in 28.3% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 58.9% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.39 people and the average family size was 3.05 people.
22.5% of the population were younger than 20 years, 25.8% were 20 to 39 years old, 30.8% were 40 to 59 years old, and 20.8% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 41 years. 49.0% of the population were male and 51.0% were female.
The median annual income was $ 45,611, with 13.9% of the population living below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the first language of 66.94% of the population, 21.62% spoke Spanish and 11.44% spoke another language.

Interstate 95 , US Highways 1 and 441 , Florida's Turnpike and Florida State Roads A1A , 7 , 818 , 820 , 822 and 848 run through the city . The Hollywood Station is a train station in the regional and long distance traffic. Both Amtrak trains from Miami to New York City and Tri-Rail trains from Miami to Mangonia Park stop here . The Sheridan Street stop is also served by the Tri-Rail. The nearest airport is Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport .
