Mangonia Park is a city in Palm Beach County in the US state of Florida with 1,888 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Mangonia Park borders the urban area of West Palm Beach directly to the north .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 1,888 inhabitants were distributed over 750 households. The population density was 1048.9 inh / km². 9.5% of the population identified themselves as whites, 83.1% as African American , 0.6% as Indians and 0.2% as Asian Americans . 3.3% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 3.4% to several ethnic groups. 9.2% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 17.7% of all households lived in 47.1% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 70.1% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.90 and the average family size was 3.30.

33.0% of the population were younger than 20 years, 33.0% were 20 to 39 years old, 21.7% were 40 to 59 years old, and 12.4% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 28 years. 46.5% of the population were male and 53.5% were female.

The median annual income was $ 26,500, with 22.7% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 80.47% of the population, 11.04% spoke Spanish and 8.49% had another mother tongue.

A few hundred meters from the western city limits, Interstate 95 runs in a north-south direction . In terms of rail traffic, the city has a tri-rail stop , where regional trains run from here to Miami ( Miami Airport Station ). The nearest airport is Palm Beach Airport, 10 km south .

crime

The crime rate in 2010 was 1512 points (US average: 266 points) in the very high range. This makes Mangonia Park the most dangerous city in Palm Beach County. There were four rapes, 22 robberies, 39 assaults, 72 break-ins, 145 thefts, 24 car thefts and one arson in 2010.
