South Palm Beach is a city in Palm Beach County in the US state of Florida with 1171 inhabitants (as of 2010).
geography
The city is located on an elongated island on the Atlantic Ocean . It is bordered by Palm Beach to the north, Lantana to the west and Manalapan to the south . Florida State Road A1A runs through the city .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the 1171 inhabitants at that time were distributed among 1492 households, most of which are holiday homes used as second homes. The population density was 11,710 inhabitants / km². 97.8% of the population identified themselves as whites, 0.4% as African American , 0.1% as Indians and 0.8% as Asian Americans . 0.3% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 0.7% to several ethnic groups. 4.6% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 2.8% of all households and persons aged 65 and over lived in 67.1% of all households. 44.9% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring). The average household size was 1.58 people and the average family size was 2.14 people.
2.7% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 8.4% were 20 to 39 years old, 18.2% were 40 to 59 years old, and 70.7% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 69 years. 46.5% of the population were male and 53.5% were female.
The median annual income was $ 62,589, with 5.9% of the population living below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the native language of 92.96% of the population, 3.90% spoke Finnish and 3.12% spoke French .
