Tequesta is a municipality in Palm Beach County in the US state of Florida with 5629 inhabitants (as of 2010).
geography
Tequesta is the northernmost municipality in Palm Beach County and the metropolitan area of Miami . It is located approximately 15 miles north of West Palm Beach . The community area is traversed on a shared route by US Highway 1 and Florida State Roads A1A and 5 . The community is bordered by Martin County to the north and Jupiter to the south .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the then 5629 inhabitants were distributed among 3257 households. The population density was 1250.9 inh / km². 95.8% of the population identified themselves as whites , 0.6% as African American , 0.1% as Indians and 1.3% as Asian Americans . 1.1% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.1% to several ethnic groups. 6.1% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 children under the age of 18 and 39.2% of all households lived in 22.9% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 62.4% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.15 people and the average family size was 2.71 people.
19.4% of the population were younger than 20 years, 15.7% were 20 to 39 years old, 32.4% were 40 to 59 years old, and 32.5% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 50 years. 48.6% of the population were male and 51.4% were female.
The median annual income was $ 63,649, with 2.8% of the population living below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the first language of 95.24% of the population and 4.75% spoke Spanish .

The crime rate in 2010 was 147 points (US average: 266 points) in the low range. There were three rapes, nine assaults, 23 break-ins and 68 thefts.
