Greenacres is a city in Palm Beach County in the US state of Florida with 37,573 inhabitants (as of 2010).

geography

Greenacres is about nine kilometers from the ocean in the middle of Palm Beach County. The nearest major cities in the county are Wellington , around 12 km away, and Boynton Beach , around 15 km away.

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 37,573 inhabitants were distributed among 17,249 households. The population density was 3105.2 inh / km². 67.0% of the population identified themselves as white, 17.0% as African-American , 0.7% as Native American and 3.0% as Asian Americans . 9.1% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 3.2% to several ethnic groups. 38.3% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 32.4% of all households lived in 35.4% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 65.6% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.61 and the average family size was 3.17.

27.3% of the population were younger than 20 years, 28.3% were 20 to 39 years old, 23.4% were 40 to 59 years old, and 21.1% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 36 years. 47.5% of the population were male and 52.5% were female.

The median annual income was $ 42,707, with 17.0% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 73.64% of the population, 21.02% spoke Spanish and 5.34% had another mother tongue.

The larger airports, Fort Lauderdale Airport around 65 km away and Miami Airport around 110 km away, are easily accessible via Interstate 95, which runs east of Greenacres . Florida's Turnpike runs west of the city . Both highways are connected by Florida State Road 802 , which runs through Greenacres.

The crime rate was 352 points in 2010 (US average: 266 points) in the average range. There were two murders, 15 rapes, 60 robberies, 102 assaults, 342 break-ins, 651 thefts, 64 car thefts and two arson attacks.
