South Bay is a city in Palm Beach County in the US state of Florida with 4876 inhabitants (as of 2010).

The city is located in the west of the county at the southern end of Lake Okeechobe .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the then 4876 inhabitants were distributed over 1077 households. The population density was 696.6 inh / km². 24.6% of the population identified themselves as whites, 65.0% as African-Americans , 0.2% as Indians and 0.6% as Asian Americans . 7.8% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.9% to several ethnic groups. 23.2% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 children under the age of 18 and 28.8% of all households lived in 48.2% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 79.0% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 3.40 people and the average family size was 3.71 people.
22.5% of the population were younger than 20 years, 36.2% were 20 to 39 years old, 30.8% were 40 to 59 years old, and 10.7% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 36 years. 68.7% of the population were male and 31.3% were female.
The median annual income was $ 25,663, with 42.9% of the population living below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 77.76% of the population, 21.51% spoke Spanish and 0.73% had another mother tongue.
