Palm Beach Shores is a city in Palm Beach County in the US state of Florida with 1,142 inhabitants (as of 2010).
geography
The city on the Atlantic Ocean is located on the southern tip of a barrier island that is separated from the mainland by the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway . Florida State Road A1A runs directly north of the city limits in Riviera Beach , which connects to the mainland via the Blue Heron Bridge .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the 1142 inhabitants at that time were distributed among 1286 households, most of which are holiday homes used as second homes. The population density was 1631.4 inh / km². 97.6% of the population identified themselves as whites , 1.1% as African-Americans , 0.2% as Indians, and 0.2% as Asian Americans . 0.5% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 0.4% to several ethnic groups. 2.4% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 49.4% of all households lived in 9.3% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 44.0% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 1.68 people and the average family size was 2.30 people.
7.9% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 12.1% were 20 to 39 years old, 30.5% were 40 to 59 years old, and 49.5% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 60 years. 50.6% of the population were male and 49.4% were female.
The median annual income was $ 51,719, with 9.2% of the population living below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the first language of 91.10% of the population, 5.61% spoke Spanish and 3.29% had another mother tongue.

The crime rate in 2010 was 143 points (US average: 266 points) in the low range. There were 14 break-ins, 24 thefts and five car thefts.
