Palm Springs is a municipality in Palm Beach County in the US state of Florida with 18,928 inhabitants (as of 2010).
geography
The community is located approximately 6 miles south of central West Palm Beach . The community area is crossed by Florida State Roads 802 , 807 , 809, and 882 . In addition, Interstate 95 runs east of Palm Springs in the immediate vicinity .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the then 18,928 inhabitants were distributed over 8,823 households. The population density was 4506.7 inh / km². 72.7% of the population identified themselves as whites , 12.1% as African-Americans , 0.5% as Indians and 1.7% as Asian Americans . 9.1% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 3.9% to several ethnic groups. 50.6% of the population was Hispanic or Latino .
In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 35.5% of all households and persons aged 65 or over lived in 25.8% of all households. 64.4% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.58 and the average family size was 3.13.
26.5% of the population were younger than 20 years, 29.1% were 20 to 39 years old, 27.0% were 40 to 59 years old, and 17.4% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 36 years. 48.2% of the population were male and 51.8% were female.
The median annual income was $ 38,637, with 20.9% of the population living below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the first language of 69.85% of the population, 24.07% spoke Spanish and 6.08% spoke another language.

The crime rate in 2010 was 500 points (US average: 266 points) in the high range. There were two murders, six rapes, 40 robberies, 74 assaults, 231 break-ins, 582 thefts, 61 car thefts and one arson.
