Egilbert (also Engelbert ; † May 17, 1065 in Passau ) was the 21st Bishop of Passau from 1045 to 1065 .

He was initially the court chaplain of the Empress Agnes . After his elevation to Bishop of Passau, he called canons to the restored monastery of St. Florian . The Agapitus Chapel , the churches of Ernstbrunn and of Korn and Trainskirchen were consecrated by him.

In 1050 he established the parish of St. Paul and consecrated the new church. On August 15, 1051, Emperor Heinrich III stayed. on his campaign against the Magyars with Bishop Egilbert and a year later the emperor came together with Pope Leo IX. to Passau. In 1058 and 1063 the future Emperor Heinrich IV stayed in Passau.

From Emperor Heinrich III. he received several confirmations of ownership for Passau churches as well as the game and forest ban.

The first attested seal certificate of a Passau bishop comes from him on November 12th 1046. The earliest Passau minting also goes back to his time.

He paid particular attention to increasing monastic discipline in his diocese.
