Franz Mader (home nurse)

Franz Mader (born June 21, 1931 in Simbach am Inn , † April 11, 2006 in Passau ) was a German homeland researcher. From 1984 to 2005 he was the municipal home administrator for the city of Passau. As a member of the CSU , he was a member of the Passau City Council from 1978 to 1990 .

Mader came to the cathedral city of Lower Bavaria in 1955. The trained businessman first worked in the Hacklberg brewery , then in the Wieninger yeast factory. In 1974 he took over the office of diocesan custodian at the Diocese of Passau and together with Eduard Pletl set up the diocese's art department. Both of them are responsible for the systematic recording and protection of ecclesiastical works of art in the parishes of the diocese. He was also responsible for setting up the Cathedral Treasury and Diocesan Museum of the city of Passau . In several publications he presented the results of his research on the history of the diocese.

In addition, Mader worked from 1984 to 2005 as the town's home nurse. With his books on the city's history and exhibitions, he made a significant contribution to researching the city's history and the biographies of its citizens. The Passavia Sacra exhibition he organized attracted around 75,000 visitors in 1975.

In 1997 he was awarded the Oswald Ring by the Association for East Bavarian Homeland Research for his services to research into local history .
