The Cathedral Treasury and Diocesan Museum in the old town of Passau is located on Residenzplatz in the so-called hall building , which connects the Old Residence and the New Residence .

Access to the museum is via a spiral staircase designed by the cathedral plasterer Giovanni Battista Carlone . Among other things, liturgical vestments, monstrances, Gothic panel paintings and other art objects from the Romanesque to the Baroque are on display . The history of the diocese is also presented. The prince-bishop's library with baroque books is located on the floor below. The exit is via the Rococo staircase of the New Residence .
