Vladimir Sergeyevich Starikov

Wladimir Sergejewitsch Starikow ( Russian Владимир Сергеевич Стариков , scientific transliteration Vladimir Sergeevič Starikov ; * 1919 ; † 1987 ) was a Russian sinologist , ethnologist and agricultural historian.

The focus of his ethnographic research was on the area of Manchuria (or Manchukuo ), in particular the area around Harbin ( Heilongjiang Province ) on the routes of the former East China Railway . He researched the agricultural implements of the forest steppe areas of East Asia, the ginseng search in eastern Manchuria and the history of the agricultural implements of the Han Chinese in northeastern China . He also researched the Kitan .

Main work

His main work Material'naja kul'tura kitajcev severo-vostocnych provincij KNR ( The material culture of the Chinese in the north-eastern provinces of the People's Republic of China Heilongjiang , Jilin and Liaoning ) deals with the everyday culture of the Han Chinese in Manchuria , in which settlement forms, Home architecture and furnishings, clothing, food, agricultural equipment, means of transport, various equipment (for hunting, fishing, ginseng hunting) and musical instruments are covered. It was translated into German by Rainer Schwarz .
