Loxahatchee Groves is a city in Palm Beach County in the US state of Florida with 3,180 inhabitants (as of 2010).

The city is about 25 km west of West Palm Beach .

history

Loxahatchee Groves was founded on November 1, 2006 as the 38th ward in Palm Beach County, making it the youngest ward in the county. City council elections first took place on March 13, 2007.

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 3180 inhabitants were distributed over 1222 households. The population density was 99.4 inh / km². 87.2% of the population identified themselves as whites , 3.3% as African American , 1.4% as Indians and 1.6% as Asian Americans . 4.0% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.4% to several ethnic groups. 18.7% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 and 26.1% of all households lived in 29.2% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 70.3% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.88 people and the average family size was 3.25 people.

22.2% of the population were younger than 20 years, 21.9% were 20 to 39 years old, 36.7% were 40 to 59 years old, and 19.3% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 45 years. 54.8% of the population were male and 45.2% were female.

The median annual income was $ 75,119, with 15.5% of the population living below the poverty line.

On the southern edge of the urban area, the US Highways 98 and 441 and the Florida State Roads 80 and 700 lead past Loxahatchee Groves on a shared route. The nearest airport is Palm Beach Airport approximately 20 km east.
