Suttorf is one of 35 districts of the city of Neustadt am Rübenberge in the Hanover region of Lower Saxony .

geography

The place is located on a ridge on the right bank of the Leine , north of the core town of Neustadt on the road to Schwarmstedt . In the west the place is bounded by the Leineaue, in the east by forest.

history

Suttorf is probably mentioned for the first time in documents of the Corvey monastery in the early 12th century as Villication Sutdoref , which were written under Abbot Erkenbert, who worked in Corvey from 1107 to 1128. At that time there were Corveyer Villications in the nearby towns of Wulfelade and Laderholz .

Incorporations

In the course of the regional reform in Lower Saxony , the municipality of Suttorf lost its political independence on March 1, 1974 and became a district of Neustadt am Rübenberge.

St. Vitus Chapel

Buildings

The street village is characterized by a loose settlement style, with courtyards with mighty gables and half-timbered buildings dominating.

The St. Vitus Chapel, which celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2014, and the memorial built in 1958 are particularly worth seeing.

Sports

Suttorf has a sports field. The SV Eintracht Suttorf 1923 e. V. offers those interested in the town a wide range of sporting activities in 12 categories.
