coat of arms
The municipal coat of arms of Otternhagen comes from the heraldist and author Hermann Ziegler .
After the local council asked the city administration at its meeting on December 13, 2000 to support the Otternhagen civic association as the initiator of creating a coat of arms for Otternhagen, the Otternhagen civic association submitted a draft to the local council for its meeting on July 13, 2004 , which was then unanimously decided as the official coat of arms for Otternhagen. The city of Neustadt was then informed accordingly and announced that no further official decision was necessary on its part.
Blazon : " Divided , above split . In fronttwo green oak leaves upright on the stemin gold , behind in red agolden spike lying diagonally to the right ; below, in green, over a depressed silver wave bar, a silver stripe . " | |
Justification for the coat of arms: In the upper area the green oak leaves in gold symbolically indicate the steadfastness of the residents of Otternhagen. The golden ear in red symbolizes agriculture in the village. The lower area indicates the street village (long straight line) that is characterized by the Auter (small flowing water, which was named "Auternhagen") in its settlement structure. |
