coat of arms

Amedorf coat of arms
Blazon : Divided by silver and blue . Above a growing red griffin , below half a silver watermill wheel . "
Justification of the coat of arms: The griffin is borrowed from the coat of arms of the von Amedorf family, which can be proven in Amedorf from before 1185 to at least 1350. The watermill wheel symbolizes the former watermill (Pungemühle) as well as a medieval ship mill in the Leine within the district of Amedorf.
