Location of Scharrel in Lower Saxony

Scharrel is a district and a village of Neustadt am Rübenberge in the Hanover region and is located around 8 kilometers northeast of the core city of Neustadt, in the so-called Neustädter Land .

geography

Scharrel lies within a field and moor landscape . It belongs to the Weser-Aller-Flachland natural area and lies between the Leine valley and the Otternhagener Moor .

history

In the run-up to a 900 celebration, a “Sankt Vitshof” mentioned in 1115 in Scharrel was assumed to be the origin of the village. Therefore, the 900th anniversary of the place was celebrated in 2015. Reliable, however, is the year 1298 as the oldest documentary evidence for Scharrel: “ 1298 June 27 - Knight Dietrich von Alten, with the consent of his sons, the abbot and the convent of the Marienrode monastery, sells four hooves of land with tithes and two farms for 100 marks from Bremen silver the associated buildings in Anderten, which he had as a fiefdom from Bishop Ludolf von Minden. Among the witnesses: Count Gerhard II von Hallermund, Johann and Ludolf von Goltern, the Hanoverian citizens Johann vom Steinhaus, Hermann and Dietrich von Rinteln, Arnold von Scharrel, Dietrich von Stöcken and many others. "

In the writings of the Loccum Monastery in 1313, the spelling Scharle was found . Towards the end of the 16th century (1599) there was one Vollmeier, six Halbmeier and seven Kötnerhöfe, which mostly belonged to the Neustadt office, partly to the church of Basse and Mandelsloh or the family v. Campe (n) in Poggenhagen were subject to tax as landlords. The tithe went to the Loccum monastery. The nearby forest "Lindenburg" was administered from Scharrel at the time; the current name of the farm “Voges-Hof” indicates that the wood bailiff's office was exercised on this farm.

Together with the neighboring Metel , Scharrel formed a chapel community, with the chapel in Metel. School lessons were given in the village at the latest since the end of the 17th century. The former schoolhouse was converted into a stately building in 1901.

Around 1940 around 310 people lived in Scharrel, in around 60 residential buildings. Since March 1st 1974 Scharrel has been part of Neustadt.

coat of arms

The municipal coat of arms of Scharrel was introduced on the occasion of 900 years of existence. The coat of arms and the lower flag were designed by a group of Scharrel citizens on the basis of extensive research and were designed and made accordingly after assessment by the heraldist Karl-Heinz Wiebrock , taking into account heraldic specifications. The coat of arms was presented to the village committee on November 18, 2014 and unanimously adopted.

Scharrel coat of arms
Blazon : Split shield . Above, in silver, a stylized , tinned green castle , above two crossed, three-leaved green linden branches ; lower half split , in front in gold a red cart plow with two silver plowshares, behind in red two crossed silver peat spades . "
Justification of the coat of arms: In the upper white (silver) coat of arms the stylized green castle and the crossed green linden branches indicate the nearby forest "Lindenburg". In the lower grainy yellow (golden) coat of arms there is a red cart plow as a symbol for the agricultural origin of the place. The crossed white peat spades on a red background symbolize traditional peat extraction. In heraldry , the red color also stands for the color brown and in this case indicates the moor.

flag

The colors green / white / green, one above the other, serve as the flag background. In the middle of the flag is the coat of arms of the town.
