The village of Hagen is a district of Neustadt am Rübenberge in the Hanover region in Lower Saxony .

geography

Hagen is located east of the Grinderwald about 8.5 km north of Neustadt. The small Hagener Bach flows through the village as a western tributary of the Leine . Neighboring towns are Borstel , Nöpke , Dudensen , Mariensee , Eilvese and Schneeren .

history

Hagen is first mentioned in a document in 1160 as Hachen. The place is to be classified as an early clearing settlement and thus as a forerunner of the Hagenhufendörfer represented in the city area. It is to be proven as part of a Wendish free court. In the late Middle Ages until 1540, according to Jakob Grimm's records, Hagen was also the seat of a wooden court that comprised 14 villages in the Grinderwald. This court had met annually in Hagen before it was moved to Wölpe or closed around 1550.

During the Thirty Years' War , 20 of the 26 existing courtyards and probably the church were destroyed by arson. In the 1850s, the parish of Hagen was incorporated from the Wölpe office into the Neustadt office. Hagen gave up his market rights in 1912 . An economically very significant event for the town was the construction of the train station in 1847. The Hagen (Han) stop on the Wunstorf – Bremen line was relocated in 1997 and the new S-Bahn station was built at the same time .

The first wireless telegram transmission between Europe and America by means of longitudinal waves (VLF) achieved worldwide fame in 1914 after the erection of the ("Tele") Eilvese Funkenturm in the Eilveser Moor, west of the B 6. At that time, the antenna mast was the tallest building in Germany at 260 m Reiches and was a simple equivalent of the radio service on the Paris Eiffel Tower. In terms of radio technology, the medium-wave radio was set up in a right-angled arrangement via an almost 5 km long earth-parallel line antenna at Hagener Berg.

In the school system, the two-class school was rebuilt in 1951 and the two-class elementary school was rebuilt in 1990 .

On March 1, 1974, Hagen was incorporated into the city of Neustadt am Rübenberge.

A preliminary high point of its history was marked in 1981 with the 750th anniversary celebration. A village chronicle was published for the event.

As an important instrument for the further development of the place, Hagen created the Hagen village development plan in 1981/86 . The village community built a new play area building in 1986, which was followed by the construction of the kindergarten in 1995 .

The village of Hagen took part in the state competition " Our village should be more beautiful - our village has a future " for the first time in 1998 with success.

Hagen coat of arms
Blazon : " Shield of Gold and Blue split , front a book branch with five green leaves , behind a silver buffalo horn ."
Reasons for the coat of arms: The branch with the five green leaves, the symbol for Hagen, stands for the Grinderwald, the origin of the village, as well as the place name itself. The rear buffalo horn from the coat of arms of the Counts of Wölpe indicates the close connection with Hagen to their county, which existed from about 1180 to 1300 and was then bought by the dukes of Braunschweig-Lüneburg .
