KirchenZeitung - The Week in the Diocese of Hildesheim is the church newspaper of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Hildesheim . It is published by the Bishop of Hildesheim and appears weekly.

The KirchenZeitung sees itself as a link in the extensive diaspora diaspora Hildesheim, which runs from Cuxhaven to Hann. Münden and extends from the Weser to the border with Saxony-Anhalt . In addition to the events in the Diocese of Hildesheim, the KirchenZeitung also deals with world church topics. In addition, the areas of culture, social policy, ethics, state politics (Lower Saxony / Bremen), religious life and service are dealt with.

history

The first Hildesheim diocese gazette was published from 1933 by Erich Riebartsch . During the Nazi era , it was temporarily banned several times, and finally in 1941 completely. The KirchenZeitung was re-established in 1946.

Publisher, editing and edition

The editorial office and the publishing house (Bernward Mediengesellschaft mbh) are based in Hildesheim , while the central editorial office for national topics is in Osnabrück . The editor is currently headed by Matthias Bode.

In the first quarter of 2019, the weekly newspaper had a sold circulation of 8,397 copies, of which 7,947 were subscribers.
