Erich Riebartsch

Erich Riebartsch (born May 14, 1902 in Dankersen near Minden , † November 22, 1986 in Hildesheim ) was a German Roman Catholic theologian .

Life

Riebartsch studied philosophy and theology in Fulda and Münster. In 1925 he was ordained a priest. He was cathedral lecturer at Hildesheim Cathedral and Konviktsinspektor in Hildesheim as well as chaplain in Hannover-Linden. From 1927 to 1929 he completed a doctorate in canon law (Dr. jur. Can. ) At the Pontifical Gregorian University ; at the same time, he was a chaplain at Santa Maria dell'Anima in Rome. After his return in 1929 he became a parish co-operator in Groß Giesen and taught at the Hildesheim seminary as well as religion at the Hildesheim high schools Josephinum and Marienschule .

In 1933 he published the first diocese gazette in Hildesheim on behalf of Bishop Nikolaus Bares and repeatedly came into conflict with the National Socialists.

From 1934 to 1986 he was professor of liturgy and canon law as well as catechesis at the Hildesheim seminary . In addition, he was the chief editor of the church newspaper for the diocese of Hildesheim and worked in the radio for almost 25 years. He was a member of the North German Broadcasting Council .

In 1953 he was supported by Cardinal Grand Master Nicola Cardinal Canali Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy grave in Jerusalem appointed and on December 8, 1953 Cologne Cathedral by Lorenz Jaeger , Grand Prior of the German Lieutenancy invested .

He was founded in 1960 by Pope John XXIII. appointed papal honorary prelate .
