Location of Dankersen in Minden
|
Dankersen is a district of the East Westphalian city of Minden in North Rhine-Westphalia , east of the waterway intersection , right on the state border with Lower Saxony .
geography
Dankersen is split into two parts by the Hanover – Minden railway line , which are connected by an underpass. The quarter has an old village center with its own church, which was restored in 2006 . There are still many old half-timbered houses from the 19th and 20th centuries, some of which are still in very good condition. There are also around ten farms in Dankersen, three of which are full-time farms (as of 2006). North of the Mittelland Canal is Hasenkamp , a district of Dankersen that emerged from an old farming community.
history
The formerly independent place was first mentioned in a document at the end of the 11th century as the ancestral seat of the Dankersen ( Thancwardessen ) families . In 1390 the village of Dankersen was taken over by the Minden Bishop Otto III. von Schalksberg pledged to Nikolaus von Hilwardingshausen (Hilferdingsen). The red brick village church (St. Peter and Paul) was built in 1860 instead of a village chapel that had become too small. Originally a typical East Westphalian village, shaped by agriculture, Dankersen was incorporated on January 1, 1973. Some old half-timbered houses are still preserved.
education
The Dankersen-Leteln primary school (formerly Dankersen primary school) is Dankersen's oldest primary school . It emerged from the former elementary school . There is also the Primus School, which has a special educational concept. The only secondary school is a branch of the Kurt Tucholsky Comprehensive School in Minden .
Sports
Dankersen is the home of the handball Bundesliga club GWD Minden .
societies
The local DRK club Dankersen is based in Dankersen.
Infrastructure
The Mittelland Canal runs through Dankersen, and many of the main roads have only recently been renovated.
traffic
The Dankersen stop was on the Nienburg – Minden railway line . But this is no longer served. All trains pass Dankersen without stopping.
Since 2017, the railway line has been isolated by a noise barrier to protect the population .
