Kutenhausen is a district of Minden in the Minden-Lübbecke district in North Rhine-Westphalia, north of the city center . It is north of the city center; in the east and north it borders on the Todtenhausen district , and in the west on the districts of Stemmer and Minderheide and in the south on the Nordstadt district . Kutenhausen has been a scattered settlement since the brand was divided , but has the characteristics of a row village in the area of the former Landwehr and the historical courtyards thereon. The area around the school and the Heimathaus (historical school) and Kutenhauser Strasse can be described as the center of the district. Kutenhausen has 1787 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2016) and covers an area of 481 hectares.

history

Kutenhausen was probably founded in the period between 600 and 800.

Kutenhausen was first mentioned in a document on March 21, 1258 in a document from the then Prince-Bishop of Minden Wittekind I. von Hoya . This document has been preserved in the Münster State Archives . The place Kutenhausen celebrated its 750th anniversary in 2008.

The residents of Kutenhausen had to pay taxes to the lords of the "Rattenburg" until 1848; the manor was probably located on today's Kutenhauser Strasse in the Königsackers area.

The Minden Landwehr built in the 14th century had a major influence on the development of Kutenhausen . The protective wall with a wide ditch in front of it was supposed to secure the possessions of the Minden citizens to the north and ran roughly along today's village road from Todtenhausen to Stemmer. In Kutenhausen there was a passage through the Landwehr, the "Schling", which was guarded by the "Schlingmann".

The Kutenhauser farmsteads were built almost in a row on the south side of the Landwehr and were in turn protected. To the north of the Landwehr there were extensive forests and heather areas, and it is said that the Minden bishops had their fish ponds here ("Herrenteich").

During the battle of Minden on August 1, 1759, the Prussian regiments and their allied English regiments had their starting positions south of the village of Kutenhausen.

At the beginning of the 18th century the Minden Landwehr had become superfluous and the land north of it (the "Common Mark") was divided up, so Kutenhausen lost the character of a closed village and became a scattered settlement.

In 1841 Kutenhausen got its own school, until then the children from Kutenhausen had been taught in Todtenhausen. The old school on Dorfstrasse is now home to the Kutenhausen home. In 1885 a new school with two classrooms was built opposite the old school, and a third classroom was added to this building in 1910. At that time there were three teachers for 194 students in Kutenhausen. During the First World War and afterwards the number of pupils fell sharply, during and after the Second World War it rose sharply again, which was mainly due to the influx of refugees and displaced persons. The Kutenhausen elementary school was expanded by the community in 1950 and a fourth teacher was employed, at that time there were 224 students. In 1958 the school in Kutenhausen was the first school in the Petershagen district to have a new gym and in 1965 a sports field, which was also used by SVKT 07 eV. In 1967 the elementary school was converted into a primary school and expanded again in 1974 with the construction of a pavilion. In the meantime the children from Kutenhausen, Todtenhausen and Stemmer went to elementary school in Kutenhausen. In 1991 the Kutenhausen elementary school celebrated its 150th anniversary.

In 2008 the old school building and the pavilion were demolished and replaced by a new building with a facility for all-day care. The school celebrated the topping-out ceremony on October 16, 2008.

Due to the territorial reform , which came into force on January 1, 1973, the former Petershagen office , to which Kutenhausen also belonged, was dissolved and the municipality was incorporated into the city of Minden as a district.
