Bernd Gieseking (born October 7, 1958 in Minden-Kutenhausen ) is a German cabaret artist and author of books and children's books.

Life

After graduating from high school in 1978, Bernd Gieseking completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter until 1980, followed by community service in a non-sedentary home. From 1981 to 1986 he studied art and Protestant theology in Kassel . In 1984 he founded the "Cabaret Zappenduster" together with Edgar Wilkening (text) and Thomas Krug (music). Since 1990 he has worked as a solo cabaret artist and as an author for radio, theater and television.

Through guest appearances on radio and television (including RTL “Saturday Night”, ARD “Lachmesse Leipzig”, WDR “Cabaret Festival”, SWF “Studio-Brettl”, HR “Cabaret live”, HR “That's it. Was that it?”) he became known to a larger audience. He writes columns for the truth , the satire page of the taz , children's radio plays for the WDR radio as well as books etc. a. over Finland. Bernd Gieseking also made a name for himself as a children's book author.

He also moderates u. a. annually the “Festival of Comics” in Frankfurt ( Caricatura Museum ) and the award of the “ German Caricature Prize ” in Dresden and Bremen (alternating) or special events such as “25 Years of TAZ Truth”.

With his current cabaret programs Yes of course, it's my fault! and fin yourself! as well as with his annual satirical review of the year Off for it! he tours through the republic.

Bernd Gieseking was the first who, at the suggestion of a friend (Achim Frenz / Caricatura Museum ), put together an annual review from his radio texts for the framework program of the caricature exhibition "Triennale Greiz" in 1994 in the documenta Halle Kassel and then went on an intensive tour. Some colleagues therefore refer to him as the “Godfather of the year in review”.

Bernd Gieseking lives in Dortmund today .
