Kerstin Gäfgen track

Kerstin Gäfgen-Track (born April 25, 1959 in Wiesbaden ) is a German Protestant theologian . Since 2003 she has been the regional church councilor in the regional church office in Hanover and since 2016 the representative for education and theology of the Confederation of Protestant Churches in Lower Saxony .

Life

Kerstin Gäfgen-Track studied Protestant theology in Neuendettelsau , Erlangen and Tübingen from 1978 to 1984 . In 1990 she received her doctorate . From 1988 to 1990 Gäfgen-Track completed her vicariate at the Marktkirche in Hanover. From 1991 to 1992 she was pastor in Wennigsen , from 1992 to 1993 teacher for religion in Nuremberg . In 1993 she became a pastor in Herrieden , where she worked until 2001. In 2001 she was appointed to the regional church office of the Evangelical Lutheran regional church of Hanover as senior church councilor and department head . In 2003, the Church Senate of the Regional Church of Hanover made her appointment as Higher Regional Councilor in the College of the Regional Church Office of Hanover. There she is head of Department 4 (Education, School, Children and Youth) and was the senior consultant for education, religious instruction, Protestant schools, children and youth, since 2016 for fundamental questions of education, Protestant schools and for the Religious Education Institute in Loccum. She was the representative of the Confederation of Protestant Churches in Lower Saxony for school issues and has been the representative of the Confederation for Education and Theology since 2016.

In 1999 she was visiting professor at Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York . From 2003 to 2009 she was a member of the 10th EKD Synod . On February 18, 2013, she was proposed for election as one of three candidates to succeed Ulrich Fischer as regional bishop of the Evangelical Church in Baden . She was the first woman to run for bishopric in Baden, but was defeated by Jochen Cornelius-Bundschuh .

As deputy cathedral dean , Gäfgen-Track belongs to the Brandenburg cathedral chapter .

She is married to Joachim Track , with whom she also received her doctorate.
