Joachim Track

Joachim Track (born November 9, 1940 in Nuremberg ) is professor emeritus for systematic theology .

Career

From 1976 to 2005 he was a professor at the Augustana University in Neuendettelsau . Before that he was a research assistant at the chair for systematic theology with Wilfried Joest ( University of Erlangen-Nürnberg ). In 1973 he received his doctorate with a thesis on the theological approach of Paul Tillich , and in 1974 he received his habilitation in systematic theology. From 1974 to 1976 he was a private lecturer at the theological faculty in Erlangen.

Track was a long-time member of the regional synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria (1978–1996), a member of the general synod of the VELKD (1980–1986) and has been a member of the council and the executive committee of the Lutheran World Federation since 1997 . He played a key role in ecumenical discussions, including a dialogue with the Catholic Church on the doctrine of justification , which resulted in the 1999 Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification .

Since April 27, 2007, Track has been the deputy chairman of the board of trustees at Augustana University.

Joachim Track is married to Kerstin Gäfgen-Track for the second time .
