The Florida State Road 5 (short FL 5 ) is a state highway in the US state of Florida , the north-south-running in. Major cities along the State Route are Miami , Fort Lauderdale , West Palm Beach , Port St. Lucie , Daytona Beach , St. Augustine, and Jacksonville .

The State Route begins in Key West and ends 876.13 km north of Yulee on the Georgia border . The State Route is not signposted for most of its length. Instead, it follows US Highway 1 as a "hidden" road from Key West to Jacksonville and then US Highway 17 to the Georgia border . From Key West to Homestead , it is part of the Overseas Highway , on which State Road A1A also uses the route up to Marathon . The State Route only has its own route on a 9.32 km stretch from Lantana to West Palm Beach in Palm Beach County .
