Margate is a city in Broward County in the US state of Florida with 53,284 inhabitants (as of 2010). The geographic coordinates are: 26.25 ° North, 80.21 ° West. The urban area has a size of 23.3 km².

Margate is located approximately 6 miles northwest of Fort Lauderdale and 25 miles north of Miami . Adjacent communities are Coconut Creek , Coral Springs , Pompano Beach, and North Lauderdale .

In Margate there are currently 21 different churches from 10 different denominations, of which the Baptist congregation is most strongly represented with 4 churches. There are also 5 churches that do not belong to any denomination (as of 2004).

According to the 2010 census, the then 53,284 inhabitants were distributed over 24,863 households. The population density was 2337 inhabitants / km². 62.0% of the population identified themselves as whites , 25.8% as African-Americans , 0.4% as Indians and 4.0% as Asian Americans . 4.6% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 3.3% to several ethnic groups. 22.2% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

The average household size was 2.47 people and the average family size was 3.10 people.
