Deerfield Beach is a city in Broward County in the US state of Florida with 75,018 inhabitants (as of 2010). The geographic coordinates are: 26.31 ° north, 80.12 ° west. The urban area has a size of 38.7 km².

The city is 15 km north of Fort Lauderdale and 45 km north of Miami . Surrounding communities are Coconut Creek , Pompano Beach , Lighthouse Point and Hillsboro Beach (Broward) and Boca Raton ( Palm Beach ).

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 75,018 inhabitants were distributed over 42,671 households. The population density was 2155.7 inh / km². 65.8% of the population identified themselves as white , 25.6% as African-American , 0.2% as Indians and 1.5% as Asian Americans . 4.1% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.7% to several ethnic groups. 14.2% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

The average household size was 2.22 people and the average family size was 2.94 people.

19.8% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 25.8% were 20 to 39 years old, 27.1% were 40 to 59 years old, and 27.4% were 60 years or older. The mean age was 43 years. 48.3% of the population were male and 51.7% were female.

The median annual income was $ 38,822, with 17.5% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 75.36% of the population, 8.70% spoke Spanish and 15.94% had another mother tongue.

Interstate 95 and Florida's Turnpike cross or touch the city ​​area in a north-south direction . Other roads are US Highway 1 and Florida State Roads A1A , 5 , 810 , 811 , 834 , 845 and 869 ( Sawgrass Expressway , toll road).

The Deerfield Beach station is a railway station in the regional and long distance traffic. Both Amtrak trains from Miami to New York City and Tri-Rail trains from Miami to Mangonia Park stop here . The nearest airports are Boca Raton Airport (national) and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport .

The crime rate in 2010 was 324 points (US average: 266 points) in the average range. There was one murder, 24 rapes, 156 robberies, 248 bodily harm, 581 break-ins, 1,752 thefts, 176 car thefts and five arson attacks. On June 18, 2018, rapper XXXTentacion was shot dead outside a motorcycle shop in Deerfield Beach.
