Wilton Manors is a city in Broward County in the US state of Florida with 11,632 inhabitants (as of 2010). The urban area has a size of 5.0 km². Wilton Manors is also known as the "Gay Village".

geography

Wilton Manors is about 30 km north of Miami and is enclosed by a branch of the Middle River . The city is bordered by Oakland Park to the north and Fort Lauderdale in the other directions . The urban area itself still includes the Lazy Lake community .

climate

The climate is mild and warm. Statistically, however, there are around 50% rainy days in the summer months, even if the rain does not last all day. The highest temperatures are in May to October, with up to 33 ° C. The coldest months from December to February with an average of only 12 ° C. Snowfall is almost unknown in the region.

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 11,632 inhabitants were distributed over 7,162 households. The average household size was 1.82 people and the average family size was 2.83 people.

11.0% of the population were younger than 20 years, 24.3% were 20 to 39 years old, 41.9% were 40 to 59 years old, and 22.7% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 47 years. 63.1% of the population were male and 36.9% were female.

The median annual income was $ 50,313, with 10.2% of the population living below the poverty line.

Wilton Manors has the second largest proportion of homosexual couples in the United States, after Provincetown , Massachusetts , at 14% .

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 78.52% of the population, 9.37% spoke Spanish and 12.11% had another mother tongue.
