Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the 7,125 inhabitants at the time were distributed over 2,280 households. The population density was 2850.0 inh / km². 69.7% of the population identified themselves as whites , 15.8% as African American , 0.3% as Indians and 1.9% as Asian Americans . 8.5% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 3.9% to several ethnic groups. 59.6% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 17.0% of all households lived in 48.3% of all households with persons aged 65 or over. 76.1% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 3.38 people and the average family size was 3.57 people.

28.2% of the population were younger than 20 years, 32.8% were 20 to 39 years old, 27.6% were 40 to 59 years old, and 10.1% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 33 years. 52.7% of the population were male and 47.3% were female.

The median annual income was $ 37,432, with 19.0% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 54.71% of the population, 41.80% spoke Spanish and 3.49% spoke another language.
