Southwest Ranches is a city in Broward County in the US state of Florida with 7,345 inhabitants (as of 2010). The urban area has a size of 88.5 km².

Southwest Ranches is located approximately 15 miles north of Miami . Bordering municipalities are Weston , Davie , Cooper City, and Pembroke Pines . To the west, the city borders the Everglades .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 7,345 inhabitants were distributed over 2,389 households. The population density was 218.0 inh / km². 85.9% of the population identified themselves as white , 5.4% as African-American , 0.6% as Native American and 2.8% as Asian Americans . 2.3% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.9% to several ethnic groups. 33.3% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 and 26.3% of all households lived in 41.2% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 85.9% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 3.27 people and the average family size was 3.45 people.

27.2% of the population were younger than 20 years, 17.8% were 20 to 39 years old, 36.9% were 40 to 59 years old, and 18.2% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 44 years. 50.6% of the population were male and 49.4% were female.

The median annual income was $ 104,500, with 3.7% of the population living below the poverty line.
