The Barry University is a Roman Catholic private University in Miami Shores , a suburb of Miami in the US state of Florida .

history

The college was founded in 1940 as Barry College for Women by Patrick Barry , Bishop of St. Augustine, and Mother Mary Gerald Barry, Prioress General of the Dominican Order of the Adrian Dominican Sisters (Suore Domenicane della Congregazione del Santo Rosario) in Adrian, Michigan. On November 13, 1981, Barry College was converted into what is now Barry University .

The 36-acre main campus is located in Miami Shores, Florida; Offices in Orlando (Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law) and in Saint Petersburg (Physician Assistant Program). The Monsignor William Barry Memorial Library is considered the leading Catholic library in the United States. The Cor Jesu Chapel is centrally located .
