Marco Island is a city in Collier County in the US state of Florida with 16,413 inhabitants (as of 2010).

geography

Marco Island is after Immokalee and Naples the third largest settlement of the Naples-Immokalee-Marco Island Metropolitan Statistical Area , which corresponds to Collier County. The urban area has a size of 44.3 km². The number of inhabitants has not changed significantly in recent years, which can be explained due to the island's location. In contrast, the number of season guests with their own apartment has increased to over 30,000. After 1927, Marco was named City for the second time in August 1997 (the 400th in FL).
