Plantation Island is a census-designated place (CDP) in Collier County in the US state of Florida with 163 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Plantation Island borders the city of Everglades to the east , lies on the Gulf of Mexico and about 60 km from Naples .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the 163 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 150 households. The population density was 108.7 inh / km². 98.2% of the population identified themselves as whites, 1.2% as African American and 0.6% as Indians . 3.1% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 14.6% of all households and persons aged 65 and over lived in 35.4% of all households. 59.8% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 1.99 people and the average family size was 2.33 people.

14.8% of the population were younger than 20 years, 9.3% were 20 to 39 years old, 34.9% were 40 to 59 years old, and 41.1% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 56 years. 55.2% of the population were male and 44.8% were female.
